Making your uPVC doors more secure

One of the most common issues we deal with is problems with external uPVC doors. Over time, locks can wear out, so it’s worth seeking expert advice on a door lock upgrade and servicing your uPVC door to extend its life and maintain optimum security.

If you live in Athersley and are experiencing faulty locks, door misalignment, or other issues, a lock replacement is more affordable than buying a new door.

Fitting high-security door locks to homes in Athersley

We recommend our customers consider Ultion door locks, a type of high-security, anti-snap lock designed to combat some of the most common methods of forced entry used by thieves.

Ultion locks offer several features that enhance your property’s security. For example, the majority of standard door locks have five security pins, but these anti-snap locks have 11, capable of creating 294,970 different key combinations.

They also have a strong molybdenum core that’s 25% denser than iron, helping prevent lock drilling and snapping. The product enters lockdown mode if it’s tampered with, enhancing your home security.

Servicing & replacing window locks

Window locks can often break or stop functioning properly, and many people ignore the problem when this happens. However, as experienced locksmiths, we recommend servicing your windows, including handles and mechanisms, before intruders have a chance to access your home or business.

Your emergency locksmith in Athersley

In addition to the services listed above, we also offer an emergency call-out service. If you’re locked out of your property or have been the victim of a break-in, contact us, and we will aim to be with you within the hour.

We have a mobile workshop so that we can carry out most lock repairs and replacements on the spot. S Fretwell & Sons uses locks from all the biggest manufacturers, and everything we fit meets British Standards.

Safestyle uPVC Window Repair in Athersley North, Barnsley

Today we attended a property in Athersley North, Barnsley, where a large Safestyle uPVC window had failed in the closed position and could no longer be opened.

The window was over 20 years old and fitted with a Mila locking mechanism. We carefully opened the window without causing any damage and replaced the faulty parts, including the Mila 22mm gearbox and locking components.

After fitting the new parts, we checked and serviced the window to ensure it opened, closed, and locked correctly.

The customer was extremely pleased with the repair, particularly as it was a very large window and they were concerned about the cost of replacing it.

Thankfully, a completely new window wasn’t necessary. The original window is now working correctly again, and our two-year parts and labour guarantee covers the repair.
